Sydney has already had its wettest October in 165 years, marking the third time the New South Wales capital has broken a monthly rainfall record this year. Since precipitation data collection began in 1858, WeatherZone meteorologists said they have never seen weather conditions "even close" to 2022 levels. The previous record of 285mm set in 1987 was scrapped today when Sydney's monthly total reached 286.8mm at 10.40am.
